The Ben Macy Trio
"Macy's original compositions and taste in covers gives the new group a solid foundation from which to branch out."
- The Oregonian

"Corn Chips"

Ben Macy and his trio have been entertaining audiences all over the Pacific Northwest for 10 years now. Starting out playing local coffee shops in college, Ben has brought his unique yet accessible jazz to many of the top clubs in Portland and the surrounding areas, including Jimmy Mac's, Tony Starlight's, The Cave, The Old Stone Church, The Portland Art Museum, Jazz de Opus, and many more.

"[Ben Macy] stole the show with blazin' digits, occasionally heavy swing mixed with dreamy slow numbers and sharp-but-subtle bandleader skills, as impressive at the helm of original compositions as in standards-interpreting mode."
- The Source Weekly

"Waltz for a Rainy Day"

Ben and his band, all 30 or younger, bring a freshness to the standards, as well as many recognized not-so-standards from the likes of Danny Elfman and Metallica. Ben's own compositions, which usually make up more than half of the setlist, are always exciting while remaining very approachable to the casual jazz fan. With 3 albums for sale, and a 4th on the way, there is a lot for music lovers to get excited about.

Since the beginning of the year, Ben has been recording a new song and posting it on his website every week. This has given fans and newcomers alike a great reason to continue to visit him online. Ben's Track of the Week commitment has opened up a wider internet audience while simultaneously growing his writing and performing chops. For these reasons, and many more, Ben Macy continues to grow his audience and gain renown in the Northwest jazz scene.

"The Ben Macy Trio continues to play purposeful music that stems from interesting arrangements and good writing. There is huge potential to impact the jazz world here."
- Darrell Grant, pianist/professor
